I lost my thread of thought from earlier, so I’ll just take a different tack. Is Christianity wrong to you? Specifically, is it offensive or particularly heinous. At least at the moment, I get an apathy from you right now.
I am apathetic in the sense that I understand it from the correct perspective; I understand Christianity in its historical and cultural context — of course given the knowledge we currently have. However, I am not apathetic to its effects; I feel no apathy towards some of the believers we see in the modern day and I feel no apathy towards some of Christianity’s doctrines — as they are currently interpreted. The one that I’m utterly against is the notion of vicarious redemption — never mind that Christ didn’t exist and never mind that a historical Jesus is still a question mark. I would never condone such a belief that requires me to cast my sins on a man that was believed to be innocent. No thanks. I can pay my own ransom; I can suffer my own consequences.
It doesn’t stop there unfortunately. There are people running around ignoring the vile nature of this religion. They arrogantly claim that they know the creator of the universe whilst ignoring the fact that this supposed creator spent more time concerned with the correct manner of sacrificing a bird than he did on the method (science) behind his creation. He spent more time caring about animal sacrifice than he did about relevant details. They say that the Bible is his word and because of it they mistreat their fellow human being; they slander evolution and science as a whole. They believe in a murderer of children and they blindly attempt to defend him no matter the impression they give others. Christianity is a repulsive religion; a vermin — a poison coursing through the veins of humanity. I am vehemently against this religion (and any other like it) because I know the cure.
