A neutral:  someone who pretends to be neither for or against atheism or x or y religion—perhaps an apatheist.  These are usually the people who speak nonsense like:  “outspoken atheists and fundamentalist Christians are cut from the same cloth.”  They speak this nonsense without thinking it seems.

Do devout atheists just search the atheism tag on Tumblr and Twitter looking to start arguments or agree with each other about atheism?

No.  Reasons why I track the tag:  to debate something my opponents are so sure of (my opponents have been fellow atheists by the way), to correct misconceptions, to expose lies and/or propagandist nonsense, to defend the rights of others (usually women and homosexuals; you know how conservatives are), to educate someone on evolution or science in general—especially when they advocate the type of nonsense they want to push into our state schools, to address arrogance (i.e. I’m a real Christian, so let me tell fake Christians off about their behavior; I’m such a cool “neutral” who’s in the mood to tell atheists off—hint, hint: that’s you!), to defend myself or perhaps others from libel, amongst other reasons.  4:36 AM and I outlined that many reasons!  I’m impressed with myself.

Don’t they realize this is exactly what overzealous devout Christians do that everyone else hates?

No.  I’m not anything like an overzealous Christian who is attempting to preach the Gospel .  I’m not anything like an overzealous Christian who is so sure of themselves or so sure of something another Christian said or did (i.e. the nonsense C.S. Lewis quotes that are constantly on my tag).  I’m not anything like an overzealous Christian who is pushing creationism into the classroom.  I’m not anything like an overzealous Christian who is infringing on human rights (i.e. women and abortion and forms of birth control; homosexuals and their right to marry; children and their right to a proper education; people of other religions and their right to believe in other scriptures and other gods; atheists and their right to disbelieve in the Christian god or any god for that matter).  Okay, I’m done hammering you.
