A Message from WhyCatholic
I saw your post. Basically I posted an article busting the Jesus-Horus myth and you completely ignored it and rather latched on to my use of the plural rather than singular (mythologies) and talked about a theory altogether different from the one my post addressed. If anything it showed me that you’re not interested in discussion (or else you would have discussed the topic of the article), but only in engaging in this silly tit-for-tat thing you seem to have going on with whycatholic.
This is the post he’s referring to (read here). Of course I would point out his use of plurality. He said the following: “Ever heard the claim that Jesus Christ is really just the re-packaging of former pagan mythologies?” After asking that question, he goes on to “bust” one example. He should edit his posts or write what he actually means. Then he says that I “talked about a theory altogether different from the one [his] post addressed.” No. Mythicism is the school any myth theory pertains to. Thus, I was looking to correct the erred information put forth by Zeitgeist and Maher. If anything, he should be patting me on the back for correcting my own rather than blindly defending them because they’re atheists! Then he has the nerve to say that I’m not interested in discussion; he has said—on numerous occasions—that he has no desire to debate atheists concerning his faith. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has heard that from him. He is clearly guilty of what he accuses me of. Then he says that I have a “tit-for-tat thing…going on” with whycatholic. Wrong again. I simply want him off my tag for reasons I’ll provide below.
You don’t need to tell me to read your blog as if I’ll suddenly decovert and realize the error of my ways. I’ve read many of your posts, your responses, and the articles in your side bar. I find them completely lacking.
Completely lacking? Which means absolutely nothing coming from someone who isn’t willing to explain why. Then he acts as if I asked him to read my post because I intend to deconvert him; yet he’s the one constantly on the atheism tag posting pro-Catholicism and anti-atheism material. He’s a hypocrite. Then there’s the lovely bit below; let’s look at that.
I’m not sure why you feel the need to keep engaging with me as we clearly disagree and haven’t gotten anywhere in any of our exchanges. I do discuss my posts with various atheists and protestants (always privately, as we’re doing now) and have found that many atheists are interested in asking questions about the Faith and are surprised by the misconceptions they had. That’s why I tag my posts “atheist”, because I get atheists coming to me asking about my beliefs and my story, and in the end sharing my Faith is what it’s all about.
We’ve gotten no where in our exchanges because he’s not interested in discussion and because he’s bullheaded. “Atheists are interested in asking questions about the Faith and are surprised by the misconceptions they had.” Nice way of putting a positive spin on absolute malarkey. I’m pretty sure that’s not the kind of messages he’s getting. Most atheists know that Catholicism is hogwash—worse than Protestantism on so many levels. “In the end sharing my Faith is what it’s all about.” So let me get this straight; you get to share your “Faith” and I don’t get to share why I think it’s utter hogwash? It doesn’t work that way. By the way, who seems to have the intention of converting? It’s obvious that this kid doesn’t like me and he wants to avoid me at all costs. Well, no bigot has every gotten their way with me; it’s my way or get off my tag, and we all know how this is going to end.
